Our beautiful GLbride of the week is: Stephanie Susak. She wore the Wendy gown from Les Reves Bohemians collection paired with the Elise Cape (typically paired with the Flavia Gown) from the Ivory Tower Collection.
Stephanie met her husband, Michael, on her first day of university when they both mistakenly showed up at a class that was cancelled, and ended up being the only two there. Their relationship started as a friendship, but after seven months of Michael trying to date her, Stephanie finally caved.
Two years ago, Michael surprised Stephanie with a trip to her favorite city in the world, New York City. On their second to last day there, Michael hired a private driver to take them to a romantic dinner, followed by a trip to the Empire State Building, where he took her to the top and dropped down on one knee in front of a violinist. He also had a friend waiting with flowers who captured the whole moment on camera.
Stephanie was always a fan of Galia Lahav’s designs, so after her proposal she attended a trunk show in Sydney, Australia, where she faced the tough decision of choosing the perfect dress. While she always adored the signature low backs and long trains of GL, she craved something more overt and different, something she hadn’t seen anyone wear before. When she tried on the Wendy dress she instantly fell in love. “I felt and looked like a queen!” When she paired it with the Elise cape, Stephanie knew this was the point of difference and originality she had wanted to incorporate into her special day.
The wedding took place in Alila Villas Uluwatu, Bali, Indonesia (such a dream), and had a white and gold luxe theme with a touch of New York glam to pair back to the proposal. Everything was absolutely perfect, except for the fact that it was supposed to rain on her wedding day. Stephanie decided to embrace the Balinese culture and hired a rain stopper, although she was unsure if it would actually work. While it rained heavily on the morning of the wedding, Stephanie’s Balinese vendors reassured her that the rain stopper would make it clear off before the event began. The rain held off until midway through the ceremony, when suddenly heavy droplets began to fall upon Stephanie and her guests. The rain stopper ran to the edge of edge of the cliff and made gestures to push the clouds away, and sure enough, it worked! The guests watched in absolute awe as the rain stopped and the reception resumed.
Overall, Stephanie said that while she enjoyed picking out vendors and choosing photographers, decorations, etc, that dress shopping was her favorite part of the preparation. She said that finding “the one,” was exactly how she had dreamt it. Stephanie has always been a risky and daring person, and she loved that her dress reflected her personality so perfectly.
Congrats to Stephanie and Michael! We wish this #GLcouple a lifetime of love and happiness.
