Jaclyn was first introduced to her husband, Joey, at a graduation party when she was 18. Joey’s brother, who was Jaclyn’s age, introduced them and they began dating a year later. They dated for almost ten years before Joey finally proposed.
Jaclyn had a hunch Joey was going to propose while they were on a romantic vacation in Tuscany, Italy. Jaclyn was curiously eying Joey’s pants pockets throughout the trip, to spot evidence of a box or ring. To her dismay she didn’t see anything. One day on the trip, the couple set out for a day of truffle hunting and wine tasting (sounds great, right?). They met their tour guide in the morning, and when they arrived at the truffle hunting location the truffle hunting dog began to sniff out truffles from the ground. After about 15 minutes, the guide called Jaclyn over and told her she could pick out the truffles the dog had just sniffed out. Jaclyn walked over and bent down and saw a truffle in the ground, and then saw an engagement ring box in the ground right next to it. She looked at Joey, and he immediately got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She was completely shocked, even though she had expected a proposal to take place on the trip. After the proposal, the couple had a delicious truffle filled lunch and enjoyed some wineries in Tuscany! A true proposal dream.
After stalking wedding gowns for months after, Jaclyn finally found the dress of her dreams at the Ivory Bridal Atelier in Houston. The Crystal dress was the first gown she tried on that day, and it was everything she ever wanted. It was beautiful and strapless, and the overskirt gave it a tight, sexy, yet princess look all in one. She tried on a few more at a different bridal shop and nothing compared! “I knew then it was the one,” said Jaclyn. “It was my dream dress!”
The wedding took place at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina. Initially, Jaclyn didn’t have a theme or vibe for the reception- she just knew she wanted it to be like a fairytale. However, her venue had a historic, “Great Gatsby meets Beauty and the Beast” vibe, and the theme ended up being romantic with a touch of a vintage elegance and a little old world glam, with light white and pink florals and a touch of greenery. The reception was romantic, delicate and sensual with candles, lighting and music. They also hired an opera singer who sang live during dinner and for the first dance.
Overall, the ceremony was Jaclyn’s favourite part of her wedding day. It took place outside and Jaclyn arrived in a vintage Rolls Royce, so the guests watched her come down the long driveway, and walk across the grass towards the aisle while a string quartet played the song “Young and Beautiful” by Lana del Ray. Her least favourite part of the planning process was getting the addresses of all her guests, and putting them into spreadsheets – of course!
Jaclyn said that her wedding was everything she ever dreamed of and more, and she wishes she could do it again!
Congrats to Jaclyn and Joey! We wish this #GLcouple a lifetime of love and happiness.
