There is nothing more rewarding for us than to see our creations come to life and wore on stunning brides! Introducing today our dear bride Anna Joy, who got married in the heights of Malibu and who look ravishing in our iconic Loretta gown made of antique french lace and crochet. Of course, we were really proud to contibute to this unique moment and we asked her a few questions in order to share this very special part of her life with you! Check it out!
1. With so many bridal options today, what was the deciding factor when it came to picking out your gown?
The very first dress I tried on was Galia Lahav, and in that moment I knew that I would be wearing one of your gowns on my wedding day. Your dresses made me feel elegant while highlighting all of the right features. The details were so magical, from tiny pearls to fine lace and the dreamiest tulle. I loved that you created these dresses with dramatic open backs to still be so feminine and classy.
I had a vision in my mind of what I wanted, so together we custom designed my gown to fit my personality, figure and style. It was more breathtaking than I ever could have imagined. I chose my gown based off of what made me feel beautiful– Not others opinions or our venue– And I couldn’t be happier. I think every bride should wear what makes them feel radiant! When my gown was finished and I tried it on for the first time, I cried so many happy tears. Every inch of it was perfect.
I will never forget the smile on Derek’s face when he opened his eyes and saw me in my gown for the very first time. His eyes lit up and reflected all of the joy I was feeling in that moment, too. I felt like I was the princess in a real life fairytale!
2. How did you meet your husband and how did you know he was the one?
Derek and I met on a snowy day in Lake Tahoe over New Year’s Eve. We grew up minutes away from each other in the same hometown, attended the same high school and even had handfuls of mutual friends– Yet somehow we never met until that weekend at his family’s lake house. From the moment we met, both of us felt like we had known the other forever. Derek was living in San Diego at the time, where I had just gotten a job and was getting ready to move– Talk about fate! He was my New Year’s kiss, and we have been together ever since. I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life by his side since the very beginning, but I truly knew he was “the one” as our relationship grew. He loves me not only despite my flaws, but even more for them. He encourages me to grow as an individual and chase after my dreams (which after planning our wedding, is becoming an event designer). I feel like the luckiest girl in the whole world to have such a genuine and loving man as my husband!
3. Where did you get married and can you tell us about your wedding day?
We got married on Chateau Le Dome at Saddlerock Ranch, a gorgeous hilltop surrounded by vineyards. A tucked away spot in Malibu, California, it feels like Tuscany in Italy (Which is where we decided to honeymoon)! We wanted our wedding day to feel like an intimate gathering, elegant yet organic.
I always say that “love is in the details”. Our wedding was full of little details that came together to create the most romantic day. We had lights, candles and chandeliers twinkling everywhere. I picked every piece, from the rose gold flatware to the sparkling rosé toast to create a warm and heartfelt atmosphere. Our family and friends kept saying it felt like a scene from a fairytale and that they had never been surrounded by so much love in one place. That really meant the world to us!
4. What was the highlight of your special day?
Though our wedding was beautiful, what we will always treasure most are the words and love from our family and friends that day. We asked Derek’s Dad, who means the world to us both, to officiate our marriage. It was the most heartfelt ceremony I could ever imagine, and it meant so much to have someone so special to us stand by our side as we read the vows we wrote for each other.
I also treasure the little moments that Derek and I had with only each other. Right after the ceremony, we took few minutes alone to reflect on the fact that we were now husband and wife. We were smiling so big that our cheeks hurt and reveling in that joy. We also took a few steps away during our reception, late into the night, just to look out at everyone laughing and dancing. It was incredible to soak in that moment. I can still feel the happiness and love!
