Our #GLBride of the week is the lovely Fernanda Vuckovic, who married her fiancé in our Gia gown. The two were married in Belgrade Serbia, where they held a unique fusion themed wedding with inspiration from Brazil, Serbia, and California. In the following interview, Fernanda shares with us memories she'll cherish forever and how our Gia became her dream dress. As told by Fernanda:

How did you meet your husband? Tell us a little bit about your relationship.

We met while both on a trip to Thailand! We went to the half-moon festival together with our friends and couldn’t stop talking to each other after that day. He lived in Belgrade at the time, and I lived in Los Angeles. We were on a long-distance relationship at first before he moved to California.

How did he propose?

He proposed in Los Angeles in 2018. It was just the two of us. It was simple but so meaningful. After our engagement, we had a party and celebrated with our friends and family.

How did you start planning your wedding? What were the first steps?

We hired a wedding planner who helped us choose our vendors.

Did you do any beauty or fitness prep for your big day?

Yes. 6 months out I cut out bread, pasta, dairy, and took barre classes 3x a week.

What was your wedding theme?

We wanted our wedding to have a modern feel, but also traditional and authentic to us. I would call it a Brazilian/ Serbian/ California fusion theme.

How did you choose your location?

Since my husband is from Belgrade Serbia, we knew we wanted to do our wedding in his hometown. We decided on a church ceremony and searched for places that had indoor and outdoor areas because summer in Europe you never know when it might rain.

How did you decide on your bridesmaid style?

I made sure to ask for their input when it came to the style and had them choose the dress of their choice.

How did you find your perfect dress?

I was inspired when I saw the dress on influencer Aylin Koenig. After trying it on in Los Angeles, it was love at first sight! I knew the Gia Dress was the one!

How was your experience with the Galia Lahav brand?

Everything was perfect!

What was the most important thing for you and your husband when planning your wedding?

We wanted to take our time and not rush into things. After getting engaged, we planned our wedding for over a year, which gave us time to plan accordingly and gave our guests enough time to plan a trip.

What was your first wedding song?

We picked a newer song “Always Remember us this Way” by Lady Gaga

What did you enjoy the most about planning your wedding?

Although planning can be stressful at times, we enjoyed the nights spent after work planning everything. For me, trying on dresses, choosing the music and decoration was the most fun.

What advice would you give to all our future brides?

Don’t sweat the small stuff! I’m a control freak and detail-oriented, so planning a wedding abroad was challenging because of the limited resources. I learned to let go of control and had to understand that certain things won’t always turn out exactly the way you want, but it doesn’t mean it’s not perfect. The memories you will have from your wedding day day, won’t be about things but all about the time spent with your loved ones!

What moment from your wedding will you never forget?

Our church ceremony and dancing the night away to the band with our friends and family were the highlight of our day. Overall, the entire day was unforgettable
