Bridal Season is back and so are our amazing brides!!! And starting with our next and stunning bride Yvette, who got married at the Palmilla Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico. It was quite a tropical wedding and we can tell that not only the temperature was hot! Our lovely and sweet bride wore Odette gown and looked perfect in it! But I’ll let you be the judge of it!
1. With so many bridal options today, what was the deciding factor when it came to picking out your gown?
I’ve always known that the day I got married I would get married in a dress different from the norm. One day while scrolling through facebook I saw a post from Cosmopolitian titled “12 Gorgeous Backless Wedding Dresses” and the first photo I saw was a gown from Galia Lahav and fell in love. Picking out my gown was easy, I knew I wanted a Galia Lahav and only one store in Houston carried the gowns. I walked in and said I want to try on all of the Galia Lahav’s and I ended up with the Odette.
2. How did you meet your husband and how did you know he was the one?
I met my husband in the office. We dated briefly but the timing wasn’t right and we ended up going our separate ways. I always knew there was something different about him though and when our paths crossed again we just knew this was it and this time the timing was right. We were inseparable and 7 months later he proposed and we were engaged!
3. Where did you get married and can you tell us about your wedding day?
We both wanted an intimate wedding with our closest friends and family so we opted for a destination wedding. We started our search for the perfect place and after much thought we decided to get married at the One&Only Palmilla Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico. It was perfect! The ceremony was held in the historic Chapel atop a hill overlooking the resort’s tropical grounds. Cocktails and Dinner followed outside in the courtyard with candles and dramatic flower arrangements all in white which created the perfect romantic ambiance. It was truly what I had envisioned. The night was finished off with dancing in the ballroom which was transformed into an elegant lounge with crystals hanging from the ceiling.
4. What was the highlight of your special day?
We had visited the resort once before the wedding but up until the day of I had no idea how everything I had envisioned would look like once it was all put together. Seeing everything come together after months of planning was an amazing feeling. I remember taking a sneak peak of the ballroom and being speechless because it was exactly how I had pictured it. Walking into the chapel and seeing all of my friends and family and my future husband stand at the alter was the biggest highlight of the day and at that moment I felt so blessed to be surrounded by so much love.
5. Can you tell us a fun anecdote about your wedding day?
We had events planned for every day leading up to the wedding so it had been a very busy week of outings. Once the ceremony and dinner had concluded it was time to party and we partied! We even extended the time because we just weren’t ready to call it a night. By the time we called it a night we were beyond exhausted and headed to our suite except there was one problem…..we realized neither of us had the room key! We ended up falling asleep on the couches right outside of our suite.. We had successfully celebrated our special day to the max! (we eventually got in our suite)
6. Dig everything go as you dreamt it or planned it? Or did something unexpected happened?
One of the reasons we picked Los Cabos, Mexico was the weather. It is located at the southern end of the Baja California peninsula, where desert meets the sea and it is one of the sunniest locations in the world, with an average of 320 days of sunshine….our wedding day NOT being one of those 320 days. All of the days leading up to the wedding were sunny with not a cloud in the sky except the day of, I woke up to the sound of thunder. My planner called me and said we needed to move on to plan B which was moving the ceremony from the lawn which overlooked the ocean to indoors….the Chapel it was. The dinner was scheduled to be outside in the open air which had to be moved to the courtyard. Thankfully the resort has an amazing staff and plan B went seemingly smooth, the guests actually had no idea that the chapel and the courtyard were unplanned. Despite the rain the wedding turned out so perfect! I loved our day and I wish I could relive it over and over again.
