Bride Of The Week: Martina
Written By Kaileah Searcy
We're excited to introduce our GL Bride of the Week, Martina! She tied the knot in our Paloma gown from the Amor Collection, marrying the love of her life in a timeless wedding at Villa Des Vergers in Northern Italy.
"I knew my Paloma dress was the right one from the first moment I saw it."
A moment of your wedding day you will never forget?
I struggle to identify just one moment of my wedding day that I will never forget, because I felt so many inexplicable emotions that every moment will remain indelible. Entering the church was a very emotional moment. My gaze was focused on my future husband who was there waiting for me, moved and my heart was full of joy. And certainly in addition to the love I perceived from him, all the love that the people around us have transmitted to us will remain within me.
One thing you wish you knew as a new bride? What advice would you give to future brides?
One piece of advice I would give to future brides is certainly to try to organize the day as best as possible but not to take on all the stress of the preparations, taking every unexpected event positively. Fortunately, we were helped a lot by our wedding planners who made our every wish come true and on the wedding day they made sure that everything went smoothly and that our guests felt important because I believe that the success of the wedding day also depends a lot on the people you surround yourself with and in our case we can't help but thank each and every one of them.
A detail that made your wedding special/unique?
The detail that made our wedding unique in addition to the people who are the first important thing as I was saying is certainly the location. Villa des Vergers which is located in the hills of Rimini is truly a dream place, furthermore the setup we chose required that the dinner take place around a mirrored platform. This made the atmosphere truly unique.
How did you know your dress was 'the one'?
I knew my Paloma dress was the right one from the first moment I saw it, even before I tried it on to be exact. It was everything I had always dreamed of, simplicity, sophistication but with a unique touch and beautiful details.
How did it feel when you put on your dress the day of the wedding? What was everyone's reaction to the dress?
When I put on my dress I felt once again that it was perfect for me and made me feel exactly how I wanted to feel that day. Plus the sartorial details like the corset made me feel like I've never felt inside a dress. My friends and parents who went to see the dress were speechless at first, I saw in their looks all the approval I needed at that moment. I received many compliments throughout the day. Many thought I couldn't have worn a better dress than that.
Would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn't change anything about that day in the choices I made before.
What was your favourite part of the wedding to plan/you were most looking forward to?
The part that I liked most to make were the wedding favors, my partner and I had some ceramic bottles specially made and we decorated them and then baked them in a professional oven. Inside we put some olive oil that is produced on my husband's lands.
How did you meet your husband? How did he propose?
My husband and I met in the community center that he and his friends ran. He wrote to me if I could help them with the bar at the non-profit events they organized. The proposal was a bit unusual: The same moment I discovered I was pregnant with our baby Ginevra. He took out a ring that he would have given me on another occasion and thought of asking me at that moment. So we were on the sofa and dirty with sand because we had just been to the beach but it was a truly exciting moment.
How did you find working with the team at Galia Lahav?
I think the whole team at Galia Lahav is fantastic, you can see the vast commitment, your love and dedication for your work.
How many dresses did you try on before you found it?
I didn't try on many other dresses before finding the right one. I had been to a couple of ateliers near home but when I was in Florence at Le Spose Di Mori I realized that both the dress and the team were right for me.
