Our #GL Bride of the week is the stunning Lacy Cavalier, who walked down the aisle in our G-805 gown. Lacy and her fiancé tied the knot in true Louisiana fashion with a beautiful New Orleans-inspired wedding. In the following interview, Lacy shares her favorite wedding moments and her experience as a GL Bride. As told by Lacy:

A moment of your wedding day will you never forget?

OUR VOWS! We wrote our own vows and read them in front of everyone. We are super competitive so we joked for months about who would have the best vows so we both came ready to win. It was sweet, hilarious, and so incredibly special.

One thing you wish you knew as a new bride? What advice would you give to future brides?

The small things you think matter, don’t. Be present and enjoy the day. You spend so much time planning it’d be a waste if you didn’t actually enjoy and soak it all in. It’s about celebrating now stressing!

A detail that made your wedding special/unique?

We got married in New Orleans, Louisiana so we followed tradition by having a second-line parade. The parade is made up of the first line, the police escort, band, bride, and groom, and then the second line is made up of the wedding guests. The bride and groom carry decorative umbrellas while the second line follows behind waving personalized handkerchiefs in the air. You parade through the streets from the church/ceremony to the reception signifying and celebrating the beginning of a new life together. Behind our vows, in my opinion, it was the second-best part of our day.

How did you know your dress was 'the one'?

I remember my incredible bridal attendant at The Dress Theory Nashville asking me “what do you think Jackie pictures you in?” As soon as I started pulling my dress on for the first time, I said out loud “This is exactly what he’d picture me in.” I didn’t know if I’d have that “you’ll just know” feeling everyone talks about but I fortunately did. I always had a vague vision of what I’d look/feel like as a bride and as soon as I saw myself in this dress that vision became crystal clear. I knew instantly that nothing else would compare.

How did it feel when you put on your dress the day of the wedding? What was everyone's reaction to the dress?

Right. Everything felt right. I felt like my most natural self while also feeling my most beautiful. The dress was and continues to be probably the most talked about the detail of our wedding. There’s just nothing like it. It stops you in your tracks. I bought it a year before the wedding, got to wear it all night, and take a million pictures wearing it. I’m still not over staring at it. LOL. Thinking about it gives me butterflies. It will forever be the most beautiful thing I’ll ever wear.

Would you have done anything differently?

Honestly not a thing. The day was truly perfect. Did everything go perfectly? No. But it didn’t matter. I wouldn’t change one thing about the day.

What was your favourite part of the wedding to plan/you were most looking forward to?

1. Jackie seeing me in my dress OF COURSE haha.
2. Reading our vows
3. The second-line parade
4. Being with our family and friends
5. The food

How did you meet your husband? How did he propose?

We met on a dating app, Raya, which is very 2020 of us. Lol. He surprised me with a trip. He didn’t tell me where we were going until I found out at the airport. My girlfriends were fully convinced that he was going to propose but I shrugged it off. Lol. He had planned to do it on a private boat trip in Cabo but the trip got canceled due to the weather. So a couple of nights into the trip we went back to our hotel room after dinner. I was in the bathroom, in my pj’s, taking off my makeup when I looked over at him kinda acting funny. Lol. Little did I know that 10 seconds later he’d be on one knee in the bathroom telling me he wants to have dinner with me for the rest of his life. Haha. Of course, the one part of my makeup that I hadn’t taken off yet was my mascara so I looked like a total raccoon by the end of it. LOL.
But it was absolutely perfect. I had told him I never wanted to get engaged in front of people and that I didn’t want it to be a big production. I just wanted it to feel like us. Natural and intimate. And that’s exactly what it was.

How did you find working with the team at Galia Lahav?

Absolutely amazing. It was the most seamless process.

How many dresses did you try on before you found it?

Hmmmmm probably 10-15ish? But once I put it on that was it. I didn’t go back and try old ones on to compare. I just knew and I didn’t want to have to take it off haha.
