Meet our GL Bride of the Week Emily....

Who looked absolutely stunning in our G-521 ย gown with custom sleeves! She and her fiance celebrated their nuptials in a setting that holds the very essence of romance โ€“ the iconic “Notebook” house in South Carolina’s Wadmalaw Island. In the following interview, Emily shares her favorite moments and how she knew our G-521 gown was The One! As told by Emily:

A moment of your wedding day will you never forget?

We had perfect weather all day up until 20 minutes before our ceremony. Dark clouds came rolling in and we knew what was coming, but I was determined to have the ceremony I envisioned, so I chose to keep the ceremony outdoors. It ended up being my favorite moment from the wedding because it gave me my perfect “Notebook” moment. We got married where the Notebook was filmed and in the film, the famous scene is when Noah and Allie get rained on and that’s what happened with us. Shortly after the ceremony, we had beautiful skies and rainbows show up, so it was a truly once in a lifetime experience.

One thing you wish you knew as a new bride? What advice would you give to future brides?

As a bride, i knew a lot of decisions were going to have to be made, but the small decisions were the hardest for me. picking out linens, plates, colors, etc. My advice would be to plan out every small detail you could think of and make it into mood boards to show vendors. It helps make the process so much faster and they can really see your vision come to life.

A detail that made your wedding special/unique?

We got married where the Notebook was filmed and that was really special to me. It was my favorite movie growing up and as a little girl I would dream to have a love like that, and now it’s my reality and I got to live out my dream.

How did you know your dress was 'the one'?

I love fashion so looking for wedding dresses was so fun for me. I did a lot of research ahead of time and knew that I was a Galia girl. My dress was the first dress I ever tried on and one of the only dresses I ever tried on. I tried on 3 total and within 5 minutes of putting it on, I just knew My mom, sister, and I were sobbing and that sealed the deal for me.

How did it feel when you put on your dress the day of the wedding? What was everyone's reaction to the dress?

What was everyone’s reaction to the dress? I had been eagerly anticipating wearing my gown and having everyone see it. My dress is very unique and that’s what I loved about it. I was so excited to show it off and everyone was speechless. They all loved it!

Would you have done anything differently?

I loved how everything about my wedding turned out. Although it didn’t go as planned, it went how it should’ve gone and the unplanned moments make for a more memorable wedding.

What was your favourite part of the wedding to plan/you were most looking forward to?

I was most excited to plan the design of the wedding. I love interior design/ fashion so to me, this was essentially a bigger styling project. I wanted a garden party wedding with a modern touch and that’s exactly what I designed. I had all of my bridesmaids wear mismatched dresses and brought in lots of color which helped bring my vision to life. I also hand painted our wedding crest and made all of our invites/signs so it brought a sentimental touch as well.

How did you meet your husband? How did he propose?

My husband and I met back in highschool. I was a cheerleader and he was a football player, very cliche, but we never were in the same friend groups. We always had a crush on eachother, but it wasnt until College where he scooped my up my freshman year and we’ve been together ever since. My husband proposed where we had our first date at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. He suprised me with all of our friends and family and planned an after party as well.

How did you find working with the team at Galia Lahav?

The Galia team was absolutely amazing and brought my dream dress to life. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

How many dresses did you try on before you found it?

It was the first dress I ever tried on, but my mom wanted me to try on a couple more to make sure and I was alwavs drawn to it.
