Linda’s Timeless Celebration in the Catalina Gown

Introducing our GL Bride, the stunning Linda, who walked down the aisle in the breathtaking Catalina gown. Her wedding was a beautiful blend of tradition and romance, from an emotional first look following Chinese-Indonesian customs to a heartfelt moment when her guests serenaded her with Can’t Help Falling in Love.

Join us as she shares the details of her special day and how she found the one—in both love and fashion.

A moment of your wedding day will you never forget?
I will never forget the first look that we did at home prior to our wedding ceremony. We followed the Chinese-Indonesian tradition of having my husband fetch me at home before we depart for the wedding ceremony. It felt so surreal the moment I turned around to see him in his suit. All the jitters I felt prior to the wedding were washed away and I could not help but tear up.

One thing you wish you knew as a new bride? What advice would you give to future brides?
I wish I did not stress so much about the details of the wedding. It is after all a celebration of your love with your partner.

A detail that made your wedding special/unique? There was a moment where our guest singer got the whole ballroom to sing with her in unison as she serenaded us with the song “Can’t Help Falling in Love”. It was such a magical experience. We could feel the love and support from everyone who attended our wedding.

How did you know your dress was 'the one’? I felt so beautiful when I first wore the dress at the boutique. I loved the intricate details, the way the dress sparkles when I move and the possibility to have two different silhouettes/looks. I almost went for another ballgown dress because that is the conventional silhouette that most people go for in my hometown, Indonesia. But I could not get my mind off the Catalina dress when I got home. I am so glad that I made the change!

How did it feel when you put on your dress the day of the wedding? What was everyone's reaction to the dress?
I felt amazing and confident on the day of the wedding. My friends and family kept gushing about how beautiful the dress was.

Would you have done anything differently? I would not have done anything differently.

What was your favorite part of the wedding to plan/you were most looking forward to? My favorite part was practising our wedding dance as I felt like that was the time we could connect and spend time with each other. We only learned the choreography four days prior to the wedding but we managed to pull it off on the actual day.

How did you meet your husband? How did he propose?
We met the modern way -- on Instagram at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. We had many mutual friends and randomly followed each other on the app. My husband slid into my DMs when I posted a photo of a Dalgona latte I made during quarantine. We had great conversations on our first date, and later shared a common love for sports and exploring new food places.
He proposed three years later in a booked-out cinema studio with a carefully prepared video and bouquet of red roses. We were surrounded by family and friends who sat at the back, pretending to be normal cinema-goers.

How did you find working with the team at Galia Lahav?
I got my dress from The Proposal Bridal boutique in Singapore. The team was very kind and helpful in helping me choose my wedding dress. I am very grateful for the team and truly enjoyed my fitting sessions with them.

How many dresses did you try on before you found it?
I tried on about 15 dresses before I found it.
