The designer shares that about 50 percent of brides take advantage of the opportunity to implement customizations to Galia Lahav’s couture gowns. These alterations can include changes in neckline, adjustments in volume, and inclusion of removable pieces to transition their gown throughout the wedding day. While these adjustments can be made more easily, a bespoke gown is a more elaborate and expensive process that requires direct collaboration between the bride and the designers.
A personalized design is a very intimate process, when myself, as a designer, and the bride, as the customer, get involved in fulfilling a dream,” explains Sever. “Apart from creative ideas and thinking, a lot of expertise is needed so this creative venture will be seamless and exciting, and Galia and myself have years of experience in making these dreams come alive.
It is important for brides looking to create an entirely bespoke look that these designs start at a price of $25,000. “Many imaginative ideas need to be practical—including the budget, where creativity meets reality,” says the designer. “It is best to know your limits before moving forward. A splurge of expenses may be worth some thinking about.”
When going into the bespoke process, it’s important to think about what vision you imagine for your wedding day. Consider your favorite fashion details, silhouettes, and fabrics that can come together in your final look. You can also look through lookbooks of Galia Lahav designs in the past to source inspiration. “You could always start with a little mood board that reflects your personal tastes,” shares Sever. “Once it is more visual, you can organize your thoughts better. There are many factors to be considered, such as the desired atmosphere, color scheme, time of year, the venue itself, and above all, the bride’s individual personality which would be reflected in the overall allure of the gown.”
