Meet Marissa, our beautiful GL Bride of the Week, who embodied timeless sophistication in the G-505 gown. Marissa and her fiance's love story unfolded with a scenic wedding at Rancho San Lucas in Los Cabos against the picturesque oceanfront backdrop. In this interview, she shares the heartfelt moments that made her wedding a truly magical affair. As told by Marissa:

A moment of your wedding day will you never forget?

There were so many special moments throughout the day with our families and together as a couple that I will forever cherish. I think one of my favorite moments was after our cocktail hour when we did a private first look at our reception. While we waited for our guests to arrive, we sat alone together in a private room, relaxing and eating the hors d’oeuvres from the cocktail hour, just taking it all in, and discussing how our days were.

One thing you wish you knew as a new bride? What advice would you give to future brides?

Slow down, relax, and enjoy your day. It can go by so fast. It is your day, so surround yourself and get ready with those you love and cherish the most and it will make the day even more special.

A detail that made your wedding special/unique?

We did a first look together where after our first look, we exchanged wedding gifts with each other and read one another’s vows silently to ourselves. It made the moment very intimate and unforgettable. Seeing his reaction to my dress was such a special moment. His face lit up once he turned around and saw me.

How did you know your dress was 'the one'?

I knew my dress was the one when I put the veil on and saw the look on my mom’s face. I knew I didn’t want a white dress and the blush color of G-505 was exactly what I wanted. The subtle sheerness to the dress, with such detailed and unique beading all over really captured the elegant, but sexy look I wanted for our wedding.

How did it feel when you put on your dress the day of the wedding? What was everyone's reaction to the dress?

I felt beautiful! I was so happy with how the dress turned out. I never truly imagined how I wanted to look on my wedding day, but how I looked and felt was exactly how it was supposed to be. Everyone immediately complimented me on how well the color looked on me and how flattering of a dress it was.

Would you have done anything differently?

If I could have controlled the wind that day, I would have slowed it down some, but we still had the time of our lives from day to night. The winds led us to change our ceremony location the night before, from the beach to the spa, and it ended up being the best decision. I couldn’t imagine having the ceremony anywhere else after seeing how amazing it turned out – thank you wind.

What was your favourite part of the wedding to plan/you were most looking forward to?

We had a destination wedding, so I was most looking forward to celebrating with all of our closest friends and family for a week in Cabo San Lucas.

How did you meet your husband? How did he propose?

Blake and I have known each other for over 13 years – since we were 13 and 14 years old. We never dated, always were friends, until we started spending time together in 2020, and by 2022 we were engaged. We never even said we were dating, and now here we are married. He proposed during our trip to Big Sky, Montana last Spring. We spent one day in Jackson Hole, Wyoming where he took me to a spot called “the wedding tree” overlooking the Grand Teton and proposed! I was shocked because he kept telling me he had a ring made, but it wasn’t ready… jokes on me.

How did you find working with the team at Galia Lahav?

Incredible. The ladies at The Dress Theory, Nashville, know the GL product and their brides. It was so incredible to try on such a variety of gowns by GL, it truly is an experience when you try on Galia Lahav.

How many dresses did you try on before you found it?

I tried on under 20 dresses. 98% being Galia Lahav. I was torn between G-501 and G-104. I loved the color and structure of G-501, but loved the 3D florals on 104. I went to the boutique the following day after my first appointment and tried on a few more I had not tried before, G-505 being one of the ones I had not tried and I felt like she was the perfect combo of the two dresses.
