“The inspiration is all about unmasking the bride or someone trying to find out who you really are under a mask. Because we all wear a mask every now and then,” says Galia Lahav creative director Sharon Sever. “It’s a statement that brings clarity.
As he demystified his enigmatic vision to design “Kiss & Tell,” Sever immersed himself in his love of music. “I'm always tuned to something,” he says, correlating the paradoxical sounds on his playlist to the vibe of the collection: “techno-meets-classics.”
Because, with a finger on the pulse of bridal fashion, Sever earlier detected a return to elegant, timeless silhouettes and aesthetics. “I'm bringing it into a new era and introducing brides to a classic that is reinvented,” he says. “I’m really trying to reinvent myself every time, so I don't get bored — and the brides don't get bored.”
So, Sever transforms ballgown and mermaid silhouettes with exquisite draping, lavish embroidery, architectural lines, and seductive corsetry. A flowing lace train doubles as a veil and adds an air of mystery to an ethereal basque-waist A-line dress. “The collection has very different fabrics that I normally don't choose,” says Sever. “Heavier, almost-crochet lace, and very rich, opulent satins. I did a lot of research on draping.”
“The collection is about seduction, mystery, and revelation"

״Kiss & Tell” also amps up the suspense with color, like opulently beaded floral embroidery in a rich blush hue atop breathtakingly soft pink tulle layers. “A new technique in print was a very big project, too,” adds Sever, referring to a resplendent ballgown, with dramatically draped ruffles and detachable sleeves, covered in a vibrant fuchsia motif. The innovative method involves injecting a resin, after the fabric is specialty printed, to create a luminous second layer. “It gives more depth to the print,” he adds.

Convertible elements, like detachable sleeves and lace layers, also allow for the bride to express her unique persona, as well as unveil up to three looks in one — like a heroine zealously ripping off a disguise. Sever suggests doubling up on intricate lace, like a high-neck, long-sleeve top over a mermaid gown. “It doesn't look like an addition — it looks like a transformation,” he says. “Play with contrasting textures, like satin over lace, to create something new.”
Customizations unique to the bride, such as lowering a neckline, adding sleeves, etc. are always an option, too. “Anything's possible in couture,” says Sever.

Speaking of unveiling mysteries, he’s also hard at work planning a “very different” showstopping presentation for the “Kiss & Tell” debut in the gleaming Galia Lahav Soho flagship. Of course, the music will be integral in setting the stage.
“The collection is about seduction, mystery, and revelation, so I curated a soundtrack that feels like an unfolding secret: sultry, intoxicating, and dramatic,” says Sever, with a laugh. “It took me almost as long to design the gowns to gather all the music. I'm still driving the DJ nuts.”
