Bride Of The Week: Tara Oberi
Written By Kaileah Searcy

Meet our GL Bride, Tara, who celebrated an extraordinary three-day wedding across Ibiza while wearing our Maya gown. Blending Hindu and Jewish traditions, her celebration unfolded from a coastal welcome party to an enchanted forest ceremony and a hilltop estate wedding. In the following interview, Tara shares the meaningful moments, design vision, and heartfelt memories that shaped her unforgettable weekend!
"There's something transformative about stepping into a gown that was meant for you."
A moment of your wedding day will you never forget?
During the reception dinner on the 3rd day of the wedding weekend, our live band MUZIKA spontaneously led everyone in song. Watching all our guests, from different cultures and backgrounds, join together in this unplanned moment of pure joy is something I'll carry with me
forever.
One thing you wish you knew as a new bride? What advice would you give to future brides?
Enjoy every second of the wedding, it goes by so quickly! Don't be afraid to create a wedding that feels authentic to both of you, even if it breaks from convention. We designed three completely different events across three days, blending two cultures and multiple aesthetics and languages. Those distinctive choices became what made our celebration truly ours. Trust your vision, especially when it feels personal rather than prescribed.
A detail that made your wedding special/unique?
We celebrated both Hindu and Jewish ceremonies in a three-day journey through Ibiza's landscapes. Starting with a bohemian Mediterranean welcome at Beachouse, then an Indian wedding in an enchanted pine forest with surrealist-inspired décor, and culminating in a Jewish ceremony at a hilltop agricultural estate. Each day offered a completely different sensory experience while honoring both our heritages.
How did you know your dress was 'the one'?
The Maya dress felt like it was designed for my body. The mermaid silhouette hugged every curve while remaining elegant and refined. The floral appliqué work was romantic without being overly sweet, and I could immediately envision it in the olive grove setting. When a dress makes you feel like the best version of yourself, you just know.

How did it feel when you put on your dress the day of the wedding? What was everyone's reaction to the dress?
I felt graceful and powerful at the same time. The fit was absolutely perfect, like a second skin. My family was visibly emotional when they saw me, and David's expression when I walked down the aisle told me everything I needed to know. There's something transformative about stepping into a gown that was meant for you.
Would you have done anything differently?
Honestly, no. Even the challenging aspects, like the September heat during daytime in Ibiza, worked out beautifully since our events were timed for the cooler evenings. Looking back, every element came together better than I imagined.
What was your favorite part of the wedding to plan/you were most looking forward to?
The design and conceptual development process was thrilling. I loved creating distinct aesthetic identities for each day, from selecting color palettes and coordinating family attire to choreographing theatrical elements and curating entertainment. My architectural background gave me a framework for thinking about how guests would experience each space, and translating those concepts into reality was incredibly fulfilling.
How did you meet your husband? How did he propose?
We matched on Hinge in August 2018 at a wine bar in the West Village, shortly after I graduated from Cornell. We had mutual friends and the connection was immediate. Seven years later, David proposed in the Algarve, Portugal. He arranged for a private boat to take us to a sandbank in the middle of the ocean where a picnic was waiting. The sandbank disappeared with the tide within an hour, a beautiful metaphor for treasuring fleeting moments.
How did you find working with the team at Galia Lahav?
The experience was exceptional!
How many dresses did you try on before you found it?
The Maya dress was actually only the second gown I tried on. Sometimes you don't need to search extensively when something feels right. I knew almost immediately when I saw myself in it.
Anything else you would like to add?
Choosing an Israeli designer for our Jewish ceremony felt particularly meaningful. Galia Lahav's approach to bridal design, bridging traditional craftsmanship with contemporary silhouettes, mirrored what David and I were trying to achieve across the entire weekend: honoring our roots while creating something entirely our own.

The Wedding Vision
Our three-day celebration was an immersive journey through Ibiza's most distinctive natural landscapes (coast, pine forest, and terraced farmlands), honouring both Hindu and Jewish
traditions whilst showcasing the island's diverse beauty.
Design Philosophy
Each outfit was selected to create a dialogue between fashion, culture, and landscape. I collaborated with both emerging and established designers from India, Europe, and NYC, constructing a global fashion narrative that honoured my heritage and David's whilst celebrating contemporary design innovation. The approach was curatorial—from custom collaborations to
carefully sourced pieces, every element was chosen to enhance the thematic integrity of each
event whilst respecting the traditions being celebrated. To capture this vision, I selected photographer Dani Rodriguez, flown in from Germany, whose editorial aesthetic aligned
perfectly with the considered design approach.
