GL Bride Desiree’s Timeless Louisiana Wedding in Our Remi Gown

Our stunning GL Bride Desiree radiated love, meaning, and Southern charm on her wedding day in Louisiana. Wearing the romantic Remi gown, she walked down the aisle in a moment that felt timeless.

From the heartfelt touches to the unforgettable celebrations, every detail reflected Desiree and Brent’s unique love story. In the following interview, Desiree shares how her gown, her love story, and her roots came together to create a wedding she’ll cherish forever.

"What matters is that when you look back years later, you feel nothing but joy and no regrets."

A moment of your wedding day you will never forget?
Without a doubt, the moment I saw Brent standing at the end of the aisle while Kari Jobe’s “The Blessing” played. It was emotional, powerful, and everything I had ever envisioned. It felt like time completely stopped at that moment.

One thing you wish you knew as a new bride? What advice would you give to future brides?
I was lucky to have a long engagement and had known my soon-to-be husband for 11 years by the time of our wedding. From the beginning, I made a conscious decision that I didn’t want stress to take away from such a special season of life. I asked every former bride I knew this same question and the common thread in all their answers was this: let it be your wedding, your way, not anyone else’s. Something will go differently than you planned, and that’s okay. What matters is that when you look back years later, you feel nothing but joy and no regrets. I carried that advice with me throughout the entire process, and because of it, I can truly say our wedding day was the best day of my life.

A detail that made your wedding special/unique?
We incorporated childhood photos and fun facts from our family history throughout the venue. I have always loved genealogy, so during our long engagement I spent time researching our ancestry tracing our lineages as far back as the 1400s and even the 1140s. Guests not only saw our love story but also where we came from, which made everything feel deeply personal and one of a kind. One of the most fascinating discoveries came from my husband’s side: he has a prominent Indian chief in his lineage, who was so revered that a silver coin was made with his face on it. I sourced several of those coins and displayed them at the venue, which became such a unique conversation piece and a beautiful way to honor his heritage.

And for a fun twist, when it came time to eat crawfish at the reception, I changed out of my stunning Remi by Galia Lahav gown and into a vibrant red dress by House of CB so I could fully enjoy myself without worrying about ruining it. It was playful, practical and very “me,” while still letting my gown remain the showstopper it deserved to be.

How did you know your dress was “the one”?
It was actually the very first dress I tried on. I had gone into The Dress Theory in Nashville specifically for the Galia Lahav trunk show because a friend of mine, Karlee Malone, had worn 805 by Galia Lahav and looked stunning (she did not gatekeep and gladly told me who the designer was). As soon as I put mine on, I knew. It was everything I had envisioned without even realizing it until that moment.

How did it feel when you put on your dress the day of the wedding? What was everyone's reaction to the dress?
Putting it on that day was surreal. It tied everything together, the aesthetic of the day, the atmosphere, and most importantly, how I felt walking toward Brent. Everyone’s reaction was overwhelming, my bridesmaids could not stop gushing, and Brent’s expression when he saw me in it at the aisle is something I will never forget.

How did you find working with the team at Galia Lahav?
They were incredible. Since Nashville does not have a flagship store, I thought I would have to travel just to try on my dream gowns. But The Dress Theory arranged a trunk show for Galia Lahav, which felt like fate. The team was so helpful, accommodating, and truly made the experience unforgettable. Ali Gray was my advisor and she is truly a girl’s girl and the kind of person you need when selecting the gown for your wedding day. I absolutely love her and the entire staff at Dress Theory.

I also spoke often with the Galia Lahav Instagram account and I truly appreciate all the advice, pointers and encouragement they gave me. Shout out to everyone that runs the GL socials, they are crushing it.

How many dresses did you try on before you found it?
Technically, it was the very first dress I tried on, though I did try on a few more Galia Lahav dresses after just to be sure. But nothing compared. I walked away knowing it was “the one.”

Anything else you would like to add?
I feel so grateful that we chose Minden, LA for our wedding. Not only was it personal and sentimental to me, but it gave our guests the chance to fall in love with the same hometown charm that shaped who I am. From the vendors to the venues to the hospitality, everything came together in a way that felt like the most authentic reflection of us.

The venue itself carried so much meaning for me. I grew up in the film industry, and that path began in the most unexpected way, inside an antique store just around the corner from where we got married. I have always loved antiques and grew up going to antique shops with my dad, who was born in 1939 and passed in 2020. Sandra Bullock happened to be in the antique store I frequented as a kid while filming a movie nearby. She mentioned to my dad that she thought I would do well in film, and her assistant gave him the contact information for a local casting company. That moment opened the door to my career in film. That same brick street in my hometown, featured in Sandra’s movie Premonition, is only steps from our wedding venue. Looking back, if I had never been in that antique store that day, I may never have pursued film, never met Neyo on set (who first introduced me to the many career paths in music), and ultimately never been led to Nashville, where I eventually met Brent.

Those small moments shaped the trajectory of my life, and it was important to me to honor them during our wedding. We had little touches throughout the venue that reflected that story: the DVD of the first movie I was ever in, antiques we bought that very day with my dad, antiques representing both of our childhoods and even our original Twitter messages on display. It all tied together, our love story, my hometown, my dad’s memory, his mother’s and grandfather’s memory and the moments that ultimately led us here.
