Abby met her husband, Connor, in college but their relationship began just as a friendship. The two friends reconnected a few years after college at a mutual friend’s party in San Fransisco, and from there they dated long distance for two years before Abby finally moved from San Francisco to Arizona to be with Connor.
So how did Connor pop the question? Abby and Connor share a mutual love for snow and skiing, and Vail, Colorado (where Connor grew up skiing) naturally became a meaningful place for their relationship. In March 2016, the couple was skiing when Connor said he wanted to go on his favorite run, which was down a path that was only open when the powder is fresh. Halfway through, Connor stopped and got down to “adjust his bindings,” and from there he got on one knee and proposed. Abby was completely caught off guard, and the two spent the rest of the day skiing in bliss.
After being a fan of the brand for years, Abby knew she wanted to try a Galia Lahav dress first. She had always imagined herself in a patchouli gown, but ended up trying on the Victoria gown from the Galia Lahav flagship store in LA first, and was overwhelmed by the positive reactions from her family. After finally trying her dream patchouli gown after, Abby decided that the unique and delicate Victoria gown was really the perfect dress for her.
The wedding took place in Vail, Colorado, with a simple and natural theme of greens and oysters to showcase the beauty of the mountains. The couple had their guests take the gondola to the top of the mountain for the ceremony and cocktail hour, then back down to the base of the mountain for the reception and dancing. Abby said the logistics of getting everyone to the top of the mountain were definitely difficult, but incredibly rewarding to see the smiles on their guests faces.
The highlight of Abby’s day was peaking through the window where she hid before the ceremony and seeing all her family and friends waiting for the ceremony to begin. She began to cry as she saw the smile on Connor’s face and the mountains behind him as he walked down the aisle.
Abby’s favorite part of the planning process was of course, getting her dress, but also dreaming about the look on Connor’s face when he saw her for the first time. And yes, her fantasy lived up to the reality!
“My wedding exceeded my expectations,” said Abby. “It was the best day of my life and so overwhelming to see everyone we loved come together to celebrate. I loved being able to shared Vail with my loved ones and see the joy on people’s faces throughout the night. I had so many pinch me moments. And the best part was at the end of the night, I got to walk away with the best husband in the world!”
Congrats to Abby and Connor! We wish this #GLcouple a lifetime of love and happiness.
