Our bride of the day is BreeLayne, a bride who understand the essence of fashion herself, whom holds her own line and desires designing and fashion, it is an honor to be able to be a part of this journey through such a special moment in ones life, especially when fashion means everything to her. Congratulations to BreeLayne and her husband on such a magical day.
I think I looked for over 6 months for the “dress.” Because I’m a designer, I knew I didn’t want to design one myself even though literally everyone asked me if I was going to! Initially, going into the whole process, I thought I wanted something loose and silky with a lot of drape. I’m very petite and have a fair complexion, so every time I tried that type of gown on, it swallowed me whole or the shade was not flattering for my skin tone. It was definitely an intense process, and I probably tried on over 100 different dresses as crazy as that sounds. Then, months and months into this process, my mom and I went to a Galia Lahav trunk show at a local bridal shop in Los Angeles. Truthfully, going into it, I didn’t think this was going to be the day where I found my dress. I was unsure initially because I still had my heart set on something minimalistic and bohemian, which Galia tends to be on the opposite side of that spectrum. I tried on several dresses that weren’t quite right for me, although beyond breathtaking, and then I put on the Fiona gown. When I stepped out of the dressing room, it was as if time stood still. Literally the entire bridal shop stopped to stare and there was a collective gasp from everyone. I looked in the mirror and, of course, started to cry. I never thought that I could love something so far from what I went into the process hoping for, but there was truly no other dress for me. It was the perfect fit.
How did you meet your husband and how did you know he was the one?— My husband and I have one of those “fairytale” stories. We actually were neighbors, if you can believe it. I’m a homebody and was living in West Hollywood at the time on this little street with three tiny bungalows on it. My house was at the very end, his was in the middle and there was another couple who lived in the first house. He had apparently lived there for three months before I even knew he had moved in. One night, my dog Zoey started barking (who never barks), so I went outside to see what she was concerned about. When I opened the gate, Hunter had gotten home very late from work and was moving some stuff around in his garage. He told me he had three rabbits, and I was like “WHO IS THIS GUY!?” I called my friend and asked her if she thought it would be ok if I went over to his house and asked to see his rabbits, to which, she said, “absolutely not.” But, of course, I did it anyways (not recommending anyone to do this in the future! LOL!). We became best friends instantly and have been pretty much inseparable ever since. We didn’t start dating until about a year or so after we had met, but there was something written in the stars within our charts, because the chemistry between us is so magnetic. We are both into astrology and there is what astrologers call a “triangle of marriage” in our charts, oddly enough. I don’t know if there was a specific moment that told me he was the one, but I think just knowing that we are/were each other’s best friends from the moment we met and it was like we had known each other all along that really sealed the deal for me.
What was the highlight of your special day?— Hard to pick one because it was all a dream come true. If I had to narrow to just one, it would be listening to my husband’s vows to me. They were the most beautiful words ever spoken, and to this day I get so emotional just thinking about them and how someone could profess their love so poetically. I loved having all my family and friends there, the love truly emanated throughout everyone and our dogs (we got one together a few years ago, and of course we still have my dog Zoey) were apart of the ceremony, which was so wonderful because that is how we met.
Can you tell us a fun anecdote about your wedding day? — We had these hanging flowers that were beautifully strung on our chuppah in the ceremony and we got married in the woods in Northern California in mid-July (when bugs were very prevalent). The staff had sprayed the area several times because the mosquitoes were attracted to all the flora and fauna we had embellished the woods with. If you know me, the moment I step outside, I get devoured by bugs wherever I go. So, of course, during the ceremony, they had a little fiesta essentially and by the end of the it, I had these massive bites literally all over me. Somehow, I was the only one who got bitten. Hunter walked away with not one single bite, even though he was up there, right across from me. Luckily, our 160+ guests seemed to walk away untouched, too! My makeup artist definitely had to work some magic to cover those bad boys up afterwards! Ha!
How did you feel throughout the whole experience with our Galia Lahav Staff? — The designer was there during the trunk show and he was beyond wonderful. He told me he loved dressing petite brides because he could really customize the gown to suit my body shape, which made me feel so special and attended to. He truly did the most magnificent job. It was one of the best days of my life. I tear up just thinking about it. I’m so grateful that I went to the trunk show and for the team at Galia Lahav, because I truly couldn’t have imagined a more perfect dress for me that I felt not only totally myself in, but also like a fairy princess, as cliche as that sounds!
