Bold, rebellious, and undeniably unique…just a few words to describe the burgeoning black wedding dress trend. Black wedding dresses have been on the rise for a little while now, but 2023 is shaping up to be a huge year for the strikingly chic alternative to classic white or ivory.

Given the fact that black clothing is traditionally associated with more solemn events, there haven’t always been many options for brides wanting to opt for a black dress on their big day. However, all that is changing with the help of celebrities and influencers sporting glamorous black wedding dresses, proving that there should be no restriction on what colors a bride “can” or “cannot” wear.

With the help of Galia Lahav’s finely crafted gowns and personalized service, these brides have been able to achieve their once-in-a-lifetime black wedding dress dreams — and you can, too.

In 2019, Selling Sunset’s Christine Quinn wore not one but two custom couture Galia Lahav gowns for her secret wedding to businessman Christian Richard.

“I never conformed to the status quo or societal expectations,” Quinn told PEOPLE magazine about her choice to wear black wedding dresses. “I’ve always enjoyed being bold, different and trendsetting. I’ve always wanted to get married in a black wedding dress, and I’m so happy that my dream came true.”

For the gothic winter wonderland-themed affair, Quinn arrived in a black horse-drawn carriage wearing a Cinderella black wedding dress featuring a sheer, off-the-shoulder bustier top and sparkling skirt with rose embroidery.

“Christine described herself as a ‘Gothic Barbie,’ and our stylist made sure the custom appliqué on the ballgown reflected that style,” Galia said in an interview with POPSUGAR. “We knew that a gothic English rose look would be a perfect fit for that lace . . . Christine decided she wanted to add one last pop of drama to her looks, so we decided on an incredible seven-meter-long black veil to make her walk down the aisle feel even more regal!”

For the reception, Quinn changed into a sleeker, even sexier ensemble — a mermaid black wedding dress. The strapless, fitted gown (which was a customized version of Galia Lahav’s Victorian-style Thelma gown) had sheer cutouts along the legs, feather details at the bottom, and a smattering of Swarovski crystals.

"We altered the original design to match Christine's vision of a sexy nighttime glam look but still with that elegant, bridal touch," Galia told POPSUGAR. "We customized the original design by adding feathers to the skirt, dramatic points to the cups, and black Swarovski crystals to the bodice to ensure Christine's look was absolutely one of a kind." Both gowns were entirely made by hand in just two months!

Social media personality TJ Marino also wore a black gown for her September 2022 nuptials. Her corset black wedding dress had a partially sheer bodice and 3D floral details with a touch of sparkle, creating a perfectly bold-yet-romantic look.

For your very own unforgettable black wedding dress moment, Galia Lahav offers a wide selection of stunning styles personalized to your exact taste and vision. Whether you’re channeling gothic vibes or simply want to go against the grain of traditional gowns, Galia is here to help your wildest wedding dreams come true and let you be your most authentic self.

As part of the Spring 2024 collection, Galia Lahav has welcomed the Fuego gown, a black French lace mermaid-style gown with Flamenco-inspired silk tulle and feathered ruffles. The breathtaking garment features a coordinating high-neck bolero for a long-sleeve option as well as a silk tulle cathedral veil for added drama and elegance.
