Our #GLBride of the week is gorgeous Yasamin Soltanirad, who wore our GALA 520 as she married the love of her life. Yasamin and her husband had a beautiful beachfront wedding and reception tucked away in the Sierra Madre mountains of Mexico. In the following interview, Yasamin shares the moments she will cherish forever and how she found the dress of her dreams with us! As told by Yasamin:

A moment of your wedding day will you never forget?

Where do I even start? Every moment was incredible! My first look with Sammy was pretty unforgettable. The goosebumps and excitement washed over me when I first saw him waiting there with his back turned. I couldn’t help running up to him and throwing my arms around him. Like, “We’re finally doing this babe!” And of course, celebrating with all of my favorite people, my family, the little moments we shared, and the energy you all brought to our wedding weekend was magic.

One thing you wish you knew as a new bride? What advice would you give to future brides?

Expect that not everything is going to go according to plan. Spend all your money on a good videographer, it’s true, it goes by in such a whirlwind and it’s so special to be able to watch and relive the day. Bring disposable cameras, the pictures turn out so much cooler, even better if it’s black and white film. In Mexico, when you insist the bartenders only feed you water shots. They will probably still feed you tequila.

A detail that made your wedding special/unique?

We rented a white vintage convertible to take us from the beach to the reception area tucked in the Sierra Madre mountains. After a glorious sunset, we hop in, Sammy, Puppy, and I, my voluminous dress taking up most of the space. The night was starting to cool down and it was so exhilarating feeling the wind through our hair as we drove up the windy road. All the guests had taken the trolley and were already there. You had to walk up 40 steps to get to the party, so they had a perfect view of us arriving in our cool whip and gave us the warmest welcome as we rolled up.

How did you know your dress was 'the one'?

It was an immediate feeling even before I stepped on the pedestal to see myself, I felt like Persian royalty. I knew in my heart I wanted a gown that felt whimsical, made me feel radiant, and allowed me to be playful. Once I tried on my dress I couldn’t take it off.

How did it feel when you put on your dress the day of the wedding? What was everyone's reaction to the dress?

I had somehow managed to not show my dress to anyone but my mom & my sisters who had come with me to the LA showroom to pick it out. Even my bridesmaids were totally in the dark – this was incredibly hard but totally worth it. Seeing the girls’ reactions & happy tears was the best feeling before heading down to see Sammy for our first look. His reaction was my favorite, him holding me speechless, unforgettable.

Would you have done anything differently?

Kept Paloma, my hair & makeup angel, on all night for touch-ups.

What was your favourite part of the wedding to plan/you were most looking forward to?

My firstborn, Puppy last name Dog, has been one of the first to witness Sam and I’s love for each other, and it was so special to have him in Mexico with us for every celebration and most importantly to stand by Daddy’s side as he married Mommy. I loved styling him for the big day!

We got him a custom bowtie and I worked with our incredible florist to make him a floral necklace made up of jasmine and white peony flowers. He was an absolute stunner and you could tell he was feeling it walking down the aisle with my sister Sara. Everyone was cheering for him, it was the cutest.

How did you meet your husband? How did he propose?

We met 9 years ago at this little music festival called Coachella. True Story. We met through mutual friends but somehow never ran into each other at college, which was interesting because all of my close girlfriends already knew Sam. After that magical weekend, he did call me but I ignored him until I ran into him at another festival later that summer and that was when we had our first kiss. This time, when we headed back home to San Diego, we spent every summer night together and fell in love.

Sammy proposed to me on a beautiful night in July, as the sun was setting over the cliffs of El Matador beach in Malibu, CA. I should have suspected something was up; My family was in town and we had made plans to have a beach day and Sam had said he wanted to join us so he took a day off at work, which should have been the first sign… the man never takes a day off. We climb down 100 stairs after spending the day at another nearby beach sunbathing and floating with the waves. It was very romantic and he had my family in on it which made it even more special.

How did you find working with the team at Galia Lahav?

Desiree was my stylist and she was a dream. Once she realized this is it, this is the dream dress for me, she started bringing in little personalizations that would bring the whole look together. It was her vision that inspired me to add a headpiece with my veil to add a bohemian flair to the princess silhouette which matched the laid-back aesthetic of our beach ceremony down to the details of the driftwood on the ceremony arch. I can’t forget about my amazing tailor Gabbie, she was so meticulous and delicate with my alteration requests.

How many dresses did you try on before you found it?

I had only been to 1 bridal boutique before Galia Lahav. I think I had tried on a total of 8 dresses until I tried on the one and ended up canceling all my appointments for that day and the following day.

Headpiece – Kinsley James
