This week’s GL Bride is the gorgeous Tina Yazdani, who walked down the aisle in our Bellina gown . Tina and her fiancé decided to have a stunning boho-inspired wedding in Tulum, Mexico. In the following interview, Tina shares with us how she created the wedding of her dreams along with how she found her perfect dress with us. As told by Tina:

How did you meet your husband? Tell us a little bit about your relationship.

Jake and I actually met in high school! But we didn’t start dating until years later. We were best friends and stayed in touch even after moving to different cities for school. I always loved him, and in our final year of university, we officially started our relationship.

How did he propose?

He proposed during a weekend getaway to Florida. We rented a car and drove all the way down to Key West. It was our first time there. We stayed in a gorgeous resort. He hid the ring in a coffee mug we bought together on one of our first camping trips (we love this mug, it is so versatile, we bring it with us everywhere). We were both emotional when he got down on one knee and asked. And we spent the rest of the weekend celebrating on the beach.

How did you start planning your wedding? What were the first steps?

We knew we wanted more than just a one-day celebration – we wanted a full week with friends and family. We’re big on traveling and a destination wedding sounded perfect to us. So the first step, really, was choosing Tulum, Mexico as the destination. We had visited once and fell in love with the city.

What was your wedding theme?

Tulumian style everything! Rustic-bohemian on the beach. All the flowers, food, and cocktails were Mexican too.

How did you choose your location?

Akiin Beach Tulum was right downtown, on the water, close to our resort, and the perfect venue for our style. Their food and cocktails were absolutely incredible, and all of our guests were truly taken aback by how gorgeous everything looked.

How did you decide on your bridesmaid style?

We picked stunning white dresses, for several reasons! 1. Because my wedding dress was blush, and the white dresses made that color pop even more. 2. Because everyone looks incredible in white, and 3. I had seen this style in other weddings and thought it was so chic and trendy.

How did you find your perfect dress?

I absolutely fell in love with the Galia Lahav Bellina gown. I had been following it on Instagram for months and was so excited when it came to a local bridal shop, White Toronto, during a trunk show. I was nervous to try it on since it’s hard to tell what would actually look good on your body. I was thrilled when I did, and it felt right. I knew I wouldn’t find anything like it. It was the most unique dress I had tried on.

How was your experience with the Galia Lahav brand?

It was incredible. The designers catered to my every request and need, and the dress was truly made for me, my body and my style. We made several adjustments to this dress until it felt perfect – I’ve never felt more beautiful! I wish I could wear the dress every day.

What was the most important thing for you and your husband when planning your wedding?

That all of our closest friends and family could attend and that the wedding felt like us. And it did.

What was your first wedding song?

We picked something a little unusual – Hold You by Gyptian. We can’t remember why, but this has been our song for years.

What did you enjoy the most about planning your wedding?

I think the best part was creating a vision. I spent months looking through bridal magazines and Instagram to find the looks and themes I loved. And of course, finding the perfect wedding dress.

What advice would you give to all our future brides?

I was so anxious in the days leading up to the big day. Try not to be – everything will come together. Stay positive and try and savor every second of the planning process because it’ll be over before you know it!

What moment from your wedding will you never forget?

Saying our vows under the chuppah. We were both so emotional. It felt like an out-of-this-world moment.
