Our #GLBride of the week is the lovely Savannah Likitsakos, who wore our Giovanna gown as she wed her fiancé. The two tied the knot with a beautiful traditional wedding held at the same church both of their parents married. In the following interview, Savannah shares what made their wedding day special and when she knew our Giovanna gown was the one! As told by Savannah:

A moment of your wedding day will you never forget?

Seeing my husband cry when I walked down the aisle! We didn’t do a first look so seeing each other for the first time when I walked down the aisle was so emotional.

One thing you wish you knew as a new bride? What advice would you give to future brides?

Don’t stress the small things! At the end of the day, your wedding is about you and your partner and celebrating your love.

A detail that made your wedding special/unique?

We got married in the same Greek Orthodox Church that both of our parents got married in over 30 years ago. My husband is Greek and I am half Greek and half Puerto Rican so we honored both cultures by having both a Greek Band and a Salsa Band at our party.

How did you know your dress was 'the one'?

My sister-in-law saw it in a magazine and texted me a picture of it saying “This dress is YOU” so I ran to go try it on. As soon as I tried it on, I knew it would be my dress. I immediately felt like a bride in it. I have never seen a dress like the Giovanna dress before. I love how the shape and style of it were traditional but then the stars and the corset detailing made it feel modern, unique, and fun!

How did it feel when you put on your dress the day of the wedding? What was everyone's reaction to the dress?

It felt so amazing, I truly felt like a princess bride! I only showed my dress to my mom, mother-in-law, sister, and sister-in-law before the wedding, so everyone else got to see it for the first time when I walked down the aisle. Everyone was blown away by the dress, and loved how it even had two different looks, I wore it strapless for the church and then put on the sparkly straps for the party!

Would you have done anything differently?

I would have tried to stress less on the weeks leading up to the wedding – everything turned out perfect!

What was your favourite part of the wedding to plan/you were most looking forward to?

My favorite part of wedding planning was shopping for the dress. I am a big shopper so going around to all the different boutiques in New York City and trying on beautiful dresses with my family was a blast for us! I was most looking forward to dancing and celebrating with all of our closest friends and family, having everyone we love in one room was a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

How did you meet your husband? How did he propose?

We are high school sweethearts! We went to the same high school in NYC and eventually, both went to Syracuse University for college. He likes to say that I followed him there as I am a year younger!

We moved back to NYC after college and after 10 years of dating, he proposed at The Mark Hotel. It was my parent’s anniversary that night and my family told me we were going to celebrate at the hotel. When I got to the hotel room, there were rose petals, flowers, and candles everywhere! He proposed in the room and soon after both of our families joined us to celebrate.

How did you find working with the team at Galia Lahav?

I purchased my dress at Bridal Reflections in New York City, and I had an amazing experience. The staff and seamstress were all great to work with and made sure my dress was perfect.

How many dresses did you try on before you found it?

Around 50!
