This week's GL Bride is the gorgeous Mikah Darby, who celebrated her nuptials in our Ruth gown. Mikah and her fiance held a 3-day wedding event complete with a poolside rehearsal party and a day at the Del Mar derby. In this interview with Mikah, she shares the moments she loved the most and how she decided on her GL dress. As told by Mikah:

A moment on my wedding day I’ll never forget?

My dad walked me down the aisle! I was not prepared for how emotional that moment would be for both of us.

One thing I wish I knew as a new bride? What advice would you give to new brides?

The day goes by so fast! It’s a long day but it goes by in the blink of an eye. Try your best to be present for every single little moment. Don’t worry about things being perfect. Take time to pause throughout the day and take it all in, THIS is your wedding day!!

A detail that made your wedding special and unique?

We tried to be really guest-focused in our planning. We wanted the wedding to be a big, 3-day party. Instead of doing a rehearsal dinner, we did a rehearsal pool party on Friday. Our wedding was on Saturday and then Sunday, we all put on our best derby attire and rented a box suite at the Del Mar Horse Races.

How did you know your dress was the one?

I knew my dress was the one, the minute I tried it on. It was the first dress I tried on at Galia Lahav and after that, it was a wrap! I knew I didn’t need to see anything else, so I bought it right then and there. I also knew that I wanted multiple looks on my wedding day, so I loved that the dress had a detachable overskirt.

How did it feel to put on your dress the day of the wedding? What was everyone’s reactions to the dress?

Stepping into my dress on my wedding day is a feeling I’ll never forget. I felt like I was ready for the red carpet! I ended up doing a first look with all my bridesmaids and that was so much fun. It was hard for all of us not to cry our makeup off.

Would you have done anything differently?

Honestly, no. The event wasn’t perfect, but it was so real and authentic. Everyone had so much fun. I absolutely love that we made the dress code black tie. It made the event feel even more special to have all our closest family and friends dresses to the nines to celebrate us.

What was your favorite part of the wedding to plan/you were most looking forward to?

Oddly, the part I was most looking forward to was getting ready with my girls! I put a lot of effort into making that experience really comfortable. I gave all my bridesmaids goodie bags stocked with everything they’d need for the weekend, including champagne, of course. We rented out one of the hotel’s conference rooms so we’d have lots of space to get ready and just hang out. Also, a full brunch buffet is a must. It’s a long day so we made sure everyone was fed.

How did you meet your husband? How did he propose?

We met on a dating app, although my husband is a little embarrassed to admit it. He actually proposed at our wedding venue! I thought we were going to the Alila Marea for his mom’s birthday brunch, but he ended up proposing! Then my mom and best friend surprised me and joined us for brunch.

How did you find working with the Galia Lahav team?

Working with the Galia Lahav team was just as expected. They made me feel beautiful and did whatever they could to accommodate me.

How many dresses did you try on before hand?

I went to one other store and tried on 4 dresses before going to Galia Lahav. Once I got to GL I was one and done!
