Our #GLBride of the Week is Laura Parks, who wore our G-104 from the GALA No.VI collection down the aisle. She married her fiancé Darren in Marbella Spain at the beautiful Puente Romano Beachfront Resort. In the following interview, Laura shares with us the details surrounding her glamourous wedding and how she found the perfect dress for her special day. As told by Laura:

How did you meet your husband? Tell us a little bit about your relationship.

We worked for the same radio/media company but I was based in Scotland and Darren in England. On Valentine’s day my boss shared a picture of Darren via email which I quite liked the look of! So my boss sent an email to Darren to say I would look after him when he was coming to our station for a charity day. Unbeknown to me a picture of myself was also sent to Darren which he also quite liked the look of! On the day we met we were wearing the exact same outfit! Black jeans, black boots, white t-shirt and a denim shirt. It was definitely an ice-breaker. It was love at first sight…which I didn’t even know existed until that moment. He really is my best friend and soul mate…6 years on we love ‘doing life’ together.

How did he propose?

He surprised me with a romantic trip to Paris. He booked dinner at our favourite restaurant Hotel Costes where he proposed. He laughed I cried! And we had the most amazing evening.

How did you start planning your wedding? What were the first steps?

Our first decision was picking the location. We knew we wanted to get married in the sunshine at a place that was special to us. The obvious choice for us both was Marbella, Spain so we booked a trip there to look at some venues.

Did you do any beauty or fitness prep for your big day?

I had regular HydraFacials which made my skin glow. As well as sticking to regular gym workouts 4 times a week and eating clean.

What was your wedding theme?

White and gold, effortless & romantic. We also had a gold palm tree design which we incorporated on our invites and stationery on the day. We loved this as it went with us being beside the beach and in Spain.

How did you choose your location?

We chose Marbella as it was our first holiday and 10th date where we made it official as boyfriend and girlfriend. We’ve both been going to Marbella for a number of years before meeting so it held a lot of fun happy memories. We decided on the beautiful Puente Romano Beachfront Resort… as it had everything we wanted in one place.

How did you decide on your bridesmaid style?

I always knew I wanted my bridesmaids to be in something a bit different and not a traditional style so I picked ivory jumpsuits which had a wide pant leg and sexy side split. They also had their hair down in Hollywood glam waves. They looked incredible.

How did you find your perfect dress?

I actually saw it on the Galia Lahav Instagram page and knew it was the one! I was going to a Galia Lahav trunkshow at Browns Bride and asked if the dress would be there for me to try. Lauren at Browns Bride took the name of the style and said she would do her best to get the sample at the trunk show. She got it! As soon as I put it on I just knew it was my dress. GL’s head designer Sharon Sever also agreed! I didn’t want to take it off!

How was your experience with the Galia Lahav brand?

It was an amazing experience I will remember forever. The girls at Browns Bride were so lovely and professional. Meeting Sharon also made my experience. His input and him taking my measurements for the dress was extra special. Every fitting really was magical and the dress was everything.

What was the most important thing for you and your husband when planning your wedding?

Apart from finding my dream dress! It was about planning a day which was fun, relaxed and intimate for our guests which also reflected our personality.

What was your first wedding song?

Alicia Keys- If I ain’t got you into a more upbeat Klangkarussell- Sun Don’t Shine which reminded us of our first trip together to Marbella.

What did you enjoy the most about planning your wedding?

I enjoyed ticking things of the wedding checklist as I’m a bit of a control freak! I liked seeing it all come together from picking the flowers to our photographer to even the canapes. I wanted to make it a really special weekend not only for ourselves but for all our family and friends who would be travelling to Marbella. Having all our loved ones together for one weekend make me very excited.

What advice would you give to all our future brides?

It’s easy to say this now but try not to stress about the small things. Of course we want everything to be perfect but sometimes not everything will go to plan. Also the day goes so quick so enjoy every single minute.

What moment from your wedding will you never forget?

It’s so difficult to pick one thing but probably walking down the aisle to my future husband in my dream dress. As soon as I saw his handsome face my nerves disappeared. Also partying into the night with all our family and friends on the best day of my life. It really did feel as close to a fairytale as you could get.
