Our #GLBride of the week is the stunning Jessica Sutta, who wore our Mia gown as she married her fiancé in Malibu. Surrounded by countless flowers, the couple held their ceremony atop a mountain with a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. In the following interview, Jessica shares with us the details of her Californian wedding and how our Mia became her dream dress. As told by Jessica:

How did you meet your husband? Tell us a little bit about your relationship.

We met in Malibu three years ago. We instantly connected and became best friends right away. The friendship soon grew into the deepest love we have ever known. He is my soulmate and my best friend.

How did he propose?

He proposed to me in our favorite place in the world, Joshua Tree, California.  As the sun was setting, it lit all the mountains and sky in a golden pink hue, Mikey got on one knee and asked me to be his wife.

How did you start planning your wedding? What were the first steps?

We started out by first hiring the best wedding planner named Julie Pryor from Pryor Events. I loved her work and knew her vision would match my vision. Then I bought all the wedding magazines and books I could get my hands on and marked every page that inspired me with a post-it tab sticker.

Did you do any beauty or fitness prep for your big day?

I worked out 4 times a week and kept a healthy diet. I also got a series of clear and brilliant facials to ensure bright and beautiful skin on the big day.

What was your wedding theme?

For the ceremony, we decided to go with an array of bold and pink flowers. Cocktail hour was an Italian Tuscan theme with lemon trees. For the reception, we decided to go with delicate light pink flowers with crystal chandeliers and long taper candles.  We wanted to make everything romantic.

How did you choose your location?

Since we met in Malibu we decided that my husband’s parent’s house would be the most perfect and intimate venue. Their house is a Malibu dream set on top of a mountain with a view of the Pacific Ocean. It was perfect.

How did you decide on your bridesmaid style?

Since my dress was flowy and blush pink, I wanted to keep that style for the bridesmaid dresses. We added a rhinestone belt to give it some bling.

How did you find your perfect dress?

I was doing my research online and I came across Galia Lahav’s Instagram. It was love at first sight. Originally, I thought I was gonna go with a mermaid style dress but as I was trying one on I looked up and I saw my dress hanging and I immediately said, “I know I’m not going for that style but I just have to try it on. It’s the most beautiful dress I have ever seen.” Once I put it on, I knew it was the one.

How was your experience with the Galia Lahav brand?

I loved working with the Galia Lahav brand. Everyone has been so sweet and accommodating to ensure that my dress fit perfectly and that I had a good experience. My team was incredible. I’m so thankful for them.

What was the most important thing for you and your husband when planning your wedding?

The most important thing for us was that we enjoyed the whole experience and didn’t stress. Our wedding planner Julie and her crew made it easy for us to stay organized and not overwhelmed.

What was your first wedding song?

Our first song was “I get to love you” by Ruelle that was performed live by my husband’s sister, Sam,  the night of the wedding.

What did you enjoy the most about planning your wedding?

I loved the food tastings for the catering. We love to eat and we felt it was really important to have delicious food served to our guests.

What advice would you give to all our future brides?

Don’t forget to relax and have fun. No matter what happens on the big day, even if something goes wrong, laugh it off and don’t stress out. You are making the most beautiful memories that you will remember forever.

What moment from your wedding will you never forget?

Locking eyes with my husband as I was walking down the aisle to him. My dream wedding had come true and we were surrounded by the people we love. It was truly a magical day.
