Our GL Bride of the week is Jessica deRoquancourt Miller, who looked gorgeous in our Thelma gown as she walked down the aisle to wed her fiance Lamar. The couple held their nuptials at the beautiful Perez Art Museum in Miami, Florida. In the following interview, Jessica shares with us how she found her dream dress in NYC and the details of her sexy and romantic wedding! As told by Jessica:

How did you meet your husband? Tell us a little bit about your relationship.

Lamar and I met when we were just 18 years old. At the time we were both young, high-school track & field athletes about to graduate and start college. He saw me at a few of the city-wide track meets and decided to make a move. What we thought to be an episode of two naive college freshman hanging out and having fun, actually developed into a 9-year authentic love story.

How did he propose?

In May of 2018, on Mother’s Day, my husband and best friend devised a plan on how to execute the proposal. That night Lamar popped the question back home in Miami. A place that we both hold dear to our hearts. It’s where our journey together began.

How did you find your perfect dress? And how did you decide to buy it?

I knew I didn’t want an overly traditional dress. I wanted something unique, beautiful, and timeless. I researched dress designers and fell in love with Galia Lahav. So, I flew out to New York to find the dress. I tried on a couple of dresses before going the boutique I knew that carried Galia Lahav (save the best for last). The Thelma gown was the second dress I tried on there. When I put it on I fell in love. I knew it was it. I didn’t try on any more dresses after that.

Where was your wedding?

My wedding was at the beautiful Perez Art Museum in Miami, Florida.

What was the theme? Did it require special planning? Share with us.

The theme was sexy & romantic. My wedding planner Lisi and her team at Forever Events did an amazing job executing our vision.

How was your experience with the Galia Lahav brand?

My experience was great. I absolutely loved my dress! The detail in my dress was exquisite and it fit like a glove. My dress even arrived sooner than expected, which was a plus.

Where did you purchase the dress?

At Bridal Reflections NY off 5th Avenue.

What did you enjoy the most about planning your wedding?

I think the best parts were food tasting, dress shopping, and watching the decor come together.

What advice would you give to all our future GL brides?

I would say two things. When it comes to finding your dress, do not settle. You can’t just “like it”… you need to LOVE IT! As cliche as it sounds, the feeling will come and you will know you found the dress! You won’t want to take it off! Secondly, I would say do your due diligence when finding a wedding planner. A great planner will take a lot of stress off of you from planning to the day of execution.

Was your wedding the way you dreamed it?

It was everything I could of dreamed of and more! It was seriously perfect. I want to do it over and over again. It was beautiful. The decor was stunning, the energy was perfect, the room was filled with love, the food was great, the weather was just right, the transitions were smooth, and best of all we had an AMAZING time.
