Our GL Bride of the week is the beautiful German actress Chryssanthi Kavazi. Chryssanthi married the actor and singer Tom Beck with whom she played on a TV show. Their wedding was inspired by Chryssanthi's Greek heritage and was full of authenticity and love. As told by Chryssanthi:
How did you meet your husband?
It was my first weekend in Cologne, and I went out with a few friends. We met in a club later that night.
How did you he propose?
We were dating for about 5 years before he proposed to me on our vacation in Thailand. It was very cute and privat and exactly how I had imagined it to be.
Where was your wedding?
My parents have owned a Greek restaurant for more than 30 years in a small town near Wolfsburg (Germany) with a big charming room, where some of my cousins and siblings have already celebrated their wedding parties. I spent my entire childhood there and so we found it very romantic to celebrate where I grew up.
What was the theme? Did it require special planning? Share with us.
We thought it would be fun to give it the theme “our big fat Greek wedding” because if you know the movie, you can tell exactly how it is with my family! I‘m Greek, my family is huge, the ceremony was greek orthodox, we ate lamb, gyros, souvlaki, seafood, typical Greek stuff and we drank lots of ouzo. We had a greek band and a lot of broken plates on the floor. This was definitely something new and special for our friends and Tom’s family, but everyone loved it, and thanks to our wedding planner, me and my family were also able to relax although the celebration was “at home.”
Which was your favorite part?
It was a wonderful day with numerous charming and emotional moments, so it‘s difficult to say which one‘s the greatest! But definitely one of the most beautiful moments was when I saw my husband waiting for me in front of the church while I was walking towards him.
How was your experience with the Galia Lahav brand?
Unfortunately, I did not know GL before. A friend showed the Instagram account of GL to me, and immediately I fell in love with these dresses! I knew this is exactly what I was looking for and although I never gave much thought to wedding dresses, I knew this is the kind of dress I want!! I have been to several wedding stores in Germany, but nothing could come close to Galia’s dress the GALA 1010.
Where did you purchase the dress?
Due to the fact that this dress was in the new collection and has been traveling from Trunk show to trunk show, it was very difficult to get a fitting appointment. Finally, I got one at Cecile Deluxe in Cologne. I tried it on, and I was simply overwhelmed!! It just had to be shortened, and I wanted to take out some tulle layers to make it a little bit more transparent and fairy-like. Other than that it was already perfect!!
What did you enjoy the most about planning your wedding?
I loved looking at pictures on the internet or in magazines to get some inspiration and finally create our own wedding style. It had a really relaxing effect on me!
Was your wedding the way you dreamed it?
It definitely was exactly the way I wanted it to be for us! It was supposed to be personal and representing ourselves with much love, also for the little details – and that’s how it was!! Our guests felt at home and had a great time! What else can you wish for?!
