Our #GLBride of the week is the lovely Alexis Moore, who wore our Mai and Jasmine on her special day. The couple married in beautiful Mexico City and held an intimate honeymoon send-off brunch in Austin Texas. In the following interview, Alexis shares with us the best moments from her ceremony and sound advice for future brides during this time. As told by Alexis:

How did you meet your husband? Tell us a little bit about your relationship.

I met my husband at the gym. We had mutual friends, so he learned I was attending 8 am classes at @onnitgymatx and showed up. Our first date was a black-tie gala for Ballet Austin. I loved how versatile he was. Soon after our first date, he attended my 30th birthday where he met my father. It was a Halloween “All Black” costume party, and he showed up in a tux. The second my father saw him, he suggested I date him. So I did!

When did you first hear that your wedding day couldn’t go as planned?

We planned our entire wedding immediately after the proposal in February and realized we couldn’t proceed with our original plans by April.

How did this make you feel?

We had already sent out invitations, so a little embarrassed to break etiquette, but we knew we couldn’t endanger our families and friends, especially our elderly loved ones.

How did you choose your re-location?

We kept our original wedding location in Mexico City and plan to do the big wedding there next year. This year, we wanted to avoid travel for most of our guests and host an event to announce our legal ceremony. The @FSAustin is a special place for us since he proposed there and we live next door at the residences!

What was the most important thing for you and your husband when re-planning your wedding?

The most important thing was safety and being able to celebrate with the people we wanted. September is also a special month for us, so we preferred to wait until September 2021.

How many guests did you have? Were your family able to make it to your small event?

We only had 6 guests (including us) at our legal ceremony in Mexico City, and then 70 guests at our honeymoon send-off brunch where we announced we were officially married! My family lives in Mexico, but my parents attended the Austin event as well.

Are you planning on having another bigger celebration when you are able to?

Absolutely! 9/25/2021

Looking back, would you have rather had the original wedding you planned or the smaller ceremony you ended up having?

Both! Luckily, I enjoyed the intimate legal ceremony with my family and brunch with friends, but I also plan to have the original wedding at the same church where my parents got married and wedding reception at Four Seasons México with 300 wedding guests.

How did you find your perfect dress?

I knew the Mai was perfect for me. I wanted a dress that made me feel like a classic bride. I also loved Jasmine because it was a modern touch of glamor and sophistication. Both dresses were incredibly chic, photographed well, and were actually quite comfortable! I felt like a queen!

How was your experience with the Galia Lahav brand online?

It was wonderful! Michelle Salman was very helpful. I actually tried on three dresses (Jasmine, Mai, and Liv) and just couldn’t pick one! I ended up picking the Mai and the Jasmine, but also would have loved to try on the Eve! The fit and fabric are beyond amazing so everything worked! I actually enjoyed trying on at home more than when I traveled to Dallas to try on Galia Lahav at a bridal boutique!

What was your first wedding song?

“Fly Me to the Moon” by Frank Sinatra

What advice would you give to brides during corona that are having the same experience as yours?

You can have it all, just not all at once. If possible, move the big reception to next year so you can truly enjoy it without as much stress. Do as much as you can this year, without compromising safety. I ended up COVID testing all 70 of my guests! Everyone felt very comfortable and appreciated our safety measures.

What moment from your wedding will you never forget?

The way he asked the judge if we could kiss after the legal ceremony. The judge answered, “I don’t see why not!” I also loved our vows and the way he looked at me when he said, “If it’s you and me against the world, then so be it.” At times, it truly felt like the whole world was against us and we were so fortunate to have each other through this process.
