Mamma Miaaaa here we go again! Today, we want to introduce you to a not so ordinary bride, Sivan Ayala, who has planned an extroardinary wedding! Have you seen the movie Mamma Mia starring Meryl Streep? If not – you MUST watch it right away- and the jaw dropping pictures of her wedding will give you a close idea of the movie. You’ll be surprised to see how much Sivan Ayla reminds us of Amanda Seyfried. She is as beautiful as her but was luckier than Amanda because our dear bride wore a custom designed lace Galia Lahav gown and looked absolutely ravishing in it. We were also stratstrucked by all the different aspects of her Greek wedding, from the gorgeous bridesmaids to the stunning -barefeet- sunset ceremony! For more exclusive details about Sivan’s unreal Greek inspired wedding, read our personal interview where she answered intimate questions about the day her dream came true!
1. With so many bridal options today, what was the deciding factor when it came to picking out your gown?
I was looking for something simple and chic with a wow-factor and Galia Lahav definitely embodies all of those elements. I had initially seen this dress in black but had to try it on anyway. When I came out of the dressing room and the whole store went silent for a second I didn’t know if that was a good or bad sign. Within a few second everyone was touching the dress, telling me how perfect it is. Galia happened to be at the bridal shop that day and personally told me she would make it in a milky white for me. She took all my measurements and customized everything to fit me perfectly. I cannot even express how in love I am with this dress!
2. How did you meet your husband and how did you know he was the one?
I met my husband in high school. We actually went on one date in high school but didn’t end up dating then. Years later when we were in college he pursued me pretty hard until I finally gave him a chance. I’m so glad I did because we have been inseparable ever since. I knew pretty early on that he was “the one.” There has never been anyone in my life who challenges me quite like he does. He is so smart, motivated, kind, loving, just everything I want in my life partner. He also takes great care of me 🙂
3. Where did you get married and can you tell us about your wedding day?
I got married in Greece on the island Naxos. We have wanted to travel to Greece for years and when it came time to plan the wedding we decided we wanted it to be naturally beautiful and low-key. Everything was white and simple. Our fathers both officiated the ceremony on the sand and our reception was at the beautiful Banana Beach Restaurant also on the the beach. Overall our wedding was very intimate, with 60 of our closest friends and family. Everyone had time to meet and mingle on the beach in the days leading up to the wedding so our party was very comfortable with one another, which made for an extremely fun crowd!
4. Your wedding made us think a lot of Mama Mia, the movie with Meryl Streep that also happens in Greece and you looked as splendid as Amanda Seyfried who plays the bride, was this one of your inspiration ?
Yes! I grew up listening to ABBA and the movie / play was a huge inspiration for me. I love everything about the ease and beauty portrayed in the movie, so comparing my wedding to that is a huge compliment!
5. What was the highlight of your special day?
There were so many special moments the day of the wedding. I would have to say the top 3 have to be the ceremony since our fathers wrote it and officiated it, the flash mob that my family planned as a surprise, and the Greek dancing we did on the bar. The people who own the restaurant we got married in are extraordinarily fun and let us get pretty crazy.
6. In the pictures, we can see that the ceremony was set on the beach, so how did manage to walk on the sand with your heels? or did you have to go bare feet?
My bridesmaids and I all walked barefoot since wearing heels in the sand is pretty impossible. It was so comfortable but at the same time I feel a little guilty that I didn’t wear my gorgeous wedding shoes for very long. However, we all knew our shoes were going to come off at some point in the night.
